    Project Summary

    In response to an identified need for senior leadership, the Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine introduced a programme in academic leadership for clinical and basic science faculty members, Emerging Leaders in Academic Medicine (ELAM). This asynchronous online programme provides an opportunity for faculty with limited leadership experience to become more familiar with the functioning of the medical school and acquire knowledge and skills to take on expanded roles in their academic settings.

    Project Objectives

    By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

    • Articulate a description of how effective leadership can help address existing needs within their academic setting.
    • Identify, describe and apply key leadership principles and practices relevant to academic medicine.
    • Reflect on their personal leadership style and develop an individualized professional development plan for enhancing their own leadership skills and competencies.
